St. Isidore Virtual School

Welcome to our Virtual School

St. Isidore Virtual School is a Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 Virtual School that is the newest branch of the Kenora Catholic District School Board family of schools. The school is named after Saint Isidore of Seville, who is recognized in the Roman Catholic Church as the patron saint of computers and the internet.

The school was created to welcome elementary and secondary students who choose to learn from home in a virtual learning community.

At St. Isidore, we strive to create the same quality, inclusive and values-based education in a caring Catholic school community that our students are used to from their home-based school.

Our dedicated team of teachers and administrators aim to keep students in  St. Isidore connected to their home school but also foster a distinct, online community as well.

A Virtual School that Feels Like an In-person School

The St. Isidore Virtual School has a team of teachers, education assistants, learning resources teachers and principals dedicated to supporting students and families in the virtual learning environment.

Each student is assigned to a class and has a home-room teacher, just like a regular brick-and-mortar school.

Educators deliver real-time learning throughout the day to small groups of students to closely mimic the in-person experience as much as possible.

Attendance is taken every morning, and students follow the same time-table and learning goals as the Kenora Catholic family of schools.

With over 180 students and growing, this community of virtual learners creates a diverse, family-like atmosphere at St. Isidore Virtual School. Each student’s education is supported by a dedicated and caring team of educators, and the faith values that are the heart of Kenora Catholic are woven into the learning experience.

It’s all part of our commitment to putting parents’ and children’s needs first as our students learn from the comfort and safety of their homes.
Building Global Competencies
Our St. Isidore Virtual students are growing confidence and knowledge as well as global competencies with the support and guidance of their teachers.

Students are expanding their world view and technology skills using Brightspace, Google Classrooms and Microsoft Teams.

Even Minister Lecce Visited St. Isidore!
Ontario’s Education Minister Stephen Lecce met virtually with students in the St. Isidore Virtual School Business Accounting class. Students were able to speak with the minister and ask questions. He also offered his perspective on the new virtual interactions everyone has had to adapt to.
